In the News: Bonnie Speaks with CNBC on the Future of Alternative Investments in Retirement Plans

Bonnie Treichel, JD, founder of Endeavor Retirement, spoke with CNBC on September 8 about the future of alternative investments for retirement plans. In response to an announcement from Goldman Sachs and T. Rowe Price that they would be collaborating to provide access to private markets for retail investors, Treichel noted that she expects more firms to do this going forward and seize on private assets.

“This combination of market growth and regulatory developments (e.g., the recent Executive Order) is likely to drive further collaboration aimed at developing new products and solutions,” Treichel, founder of Endeavor Retirement, said in an email to CNBC.

But, Treichel noted, the decision to include a target-date fund, managed accounts, or other alternative assets, is up to the plan sponsor and other plan fiduciaries.

“That decision carries with it responsibility that must be managed with care,” Treichel said. “Plan fiduciaries will want to understand these options before adding to their retirement plan menu.”
