Managed Account Bootcamp Recap

At the recent Managed Account Bootcamp at NAPA Summit in Las Vegas, we explored key considerations that advisors and plan sponsors should keep in mind when evaluating or implementing managed accounts in retirement plans. Some of these considerations include but are not limited to:

1. Alignment with Plan Goals

Managed accounts should directly support the broader objectives of the retirement plan. Ask yourself:

  • Does the service encourage better savings behavior among participants?
  • Does it improve overall retirement readiness?
  • Is it aligned with the plan’s investment philosophy and tailored to participant needs?

2. Understanding Participant Demographics

The effectiveness of managed accounts often depends on who is leveraging the service. Consider:

  • Are there older participants or those nearing retirement who could benefit from personalized advice?
  • Do younger participants require this level of customization?
  • What are the engagement levels; will participants benefit from the service?

3. Cost and Fee Transparency

Managed accounts may involve additional fees, so it’s important to weigh the value. Remember to:

  • Assess whether the benefits justify the cost.
  • Understand the fee structure including potential plan-level fees and participant-level fees.
  • Identify and understand any potential conflicts of interest.

Managed accounts can be a value-add and a strategic tool for advisors looking to scale efficiently while maintaining high standards of fiduciary care. Contact Us to learn more key considerations when evaluating managed account options.

Smooth Sailing Travel Tips Banner
Each quarter, we will feature a few travel tips. This quarter, we’re thrilled to feature Christine’s unforgettable journey to South Africa, where she experienced the perfect blend of safari adventure and coastal charm.

Christine kicked off her trip with an incredible safari in Pilanesberg National Park, witnessing the majesty of elephants, lions, giraffes, and rhinos in their natural habitat. The early morning game drives and golden sunsets over the savannah made for truly magical moments. Christine and her fiancé, Brendan, quickly decided that what was supposed to be a once in a lifetime trip, would be the first of many safari adventures to come.

After the safari, they headed to Cape Town, a city known for its vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and rich history. From exploring the colorful streets of Bo-Kaap to taking in panoramic views from Table Mountain, every day was filled with awe-inspiring sights.

A highlight of the trip was visiting the Cape of Good Hope, the southwestern most point of the African continent. Standing at the edge of the continent, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, was a powerful and humbling experience.
